Data protection, as it is currently practised, is sand in the oils of commerce. Miniscule privacy rights are allowed to trump customers' need for functionality, and organisations are forced to devote precious resources to appease German judges misunderstanding of cookies, and a hypocritical war on the US for its security services doing what everyone else's does.
